The Village Workshop Week 2

Sa?a Karali?

Sa?a Karali? currently teaches fine arts at the Gerrit Rietveld?Academy and is the head of the Art in Context ? integrated art and theory program.?Karali? is interested in how societal relations are established and reinforced through language?and its interrelation with visual forms and signs. He particularly focuses on the way the public?discourse is created, determined and collectively used in a socio-political context.?

Workshop Schedule

The ideological workings of language and, more particularly, the contemporary language used in politics is the starting point of this project. During the workshop at The Village, this topic will be explored in relation to the Korean political situation with a group of Korean participants.The participants will be asked to select current and relevant Korean political issues, make individual actions connected to them, objectify them, analyse them, and to turn them into a short slogan-like sentences. The workshop will end with a collective action of participants performing together the selected slogans.
