The Missing Picture

Today I know that this image must be missing. I was not really looking for it; would it not be obscene and insignificant? So I created it. What I give you today is neither the picture nor the search for a unique image, but the picture of a quest: the quest that cinema allows.

At the beginning of the Korean war, the love story between a young worker and the daughter of a musician unfolds in the city of Kaesong. Moranbong, une aventure cor?enne is intriguing and extraordinary as much for its form as its background of production. It was a film that was almost made by accident.

Piagol

One of the few partisan units left in Mt. Jiri after the signing of the Armistice, the unit led by a captain nicknamed “Agari” commits all manner of atrocities. One day, a female partisan soldier named So-ju, who had been transferred to another unit, finds her way back to Piagol with a bullet wound in her shoulder.

Special investigation headquarter A life of Miss Kim Su-Im

Kim Su-Im was working for the US Army Military Government in Korea in the 1940s. She was arrested while giving information to the Workers Party of South Korea as the mistress of an American colonel Baird. The film consists of Su-Im’s recollection of the past.

The Bohemian Rhapsody Project

This film-within-a-film aspect and the theatricality of the piece along with the adoption of a pop-culture framework allude to the theatrical nature of the courtroom as it is presented in the media and popular culture.

Earth

Upon the site lie fifty human beings oscillating between consciousness and unconsciousness, life and death. Each of them emerges into the foreground clutching a fist, batting an eyelid, or weeping for his neighbor.

Ghost of Asia

A video installation in collaboration with Christelle LHEUREUX. A ghost is wandering along the rocky coastline of a Thai island. The children see the ghost when they play at the coast.

Haunted Houses

All sixty six villagers from six villages participated, playing roles. The story was continuous but the actors who played the characters were constantly changed as the filming location moved from one village to another.

The Man with Three Coffins

One day in December, a man takes out from the closet, the remains of his wife who died three years ago. He goes on a trip to spread the remains and reaches a town called Mulchi on the east coast. Because he cannot go to his wife’s hometown in North Korea, he tries to spread the remains on the seashore but a security guard drives him out.
