Park Chan-kyong (b.1965) is a media artist, filmmaker, and curator based in Seoul, South Korea. He has been exploring a diverse range of themes from the Cold War to traditional Korean religious culture. His major films include
Sindoan (2008),
Anyang, Paradise City (2010),
Night Fishing (2011), and
Mansin: Ten Thousand Spirits (2013).
His works have been exhibition in numerous museums and international venues including REDCAT, Los Angeles, Akademie Schloss Solitude, Leeum Samsung museum of Art, Seoul, Frankfurt Kunstverein, De Appel Arts Center, Amsterdam, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, and Gwangju Biennale.
As an artist and film director, Park was recently awarded the Grand Prize at Muju Film Festival (2014). He was also awarded the Golden Bear at the short film section of the Berlin Film Festival (2011), the Grand Prize at the competition section of the Jeonju International Film Festival (2011), and the Herm?s Korea Misulsang (2004).
