Joo Jae-hwan

b. 1941. Lives and works in Ansan, South Korea. Joo Jae-Hwan is a founding member of Reality and Utterance, a Minjung art group that was active in the 1980s. He is also a member of the Minjung Art Association. Joo has been creating works that are full of social satire and a playful sensibility. He has had solo exhibitions at a variety of venues including Artsonje Center (Seoul, 2000), Project Space Sarubia (Seoul, 2007), Kwanhoon Gallery (Seoul, 2012), and Alternative Art Space Ipo (Seoul, 2013). Selected group exhibitions include the Gwangju Biennale (2002), Venice Biennale (2003), and APAP (Anyang Public Art Project) 2005.
